I recently bought an AS rock K7S41GX motherboard and a AMD 2300+ Sempron
processor to upgrade a friends computer. I put it all together, set the
jumpers as per the as rock website but when i fired up the system i received
a NO SIGNAL on the monitor. I have tried the monitor and processor on
another system and have not got the same problem. I have checked the website
for compatability but this says that they are compatible.
When I boot the system the CPU fan starts but that is all I hear and see.
Any help would be most appreciated.

First,on a new brd clear the CMOS,usually done by moving the jumper pin from
the 1-2 position to the 2-3 position for 30 seconds, then put back to
1-2,remove
the battery before. Then open to BIOS,set basic functions, also make sure the
video card is set in BIOS correctly pci or agp.

If you have problems with power to the Mobo and/or incorrectly installed the
AGP card, your monitor will not display 'no signal' even before you 'power
up'.

If the Monitor is 'blank' then you probably have made the physical
connections correctly and there is another problem in the configuration.

You do not suggest if the HDD spins up or FDD kicks in: these are tell tale
noises that BIOS is OK and the system is booting to an operating system.

Get the system stripped down to basics and I mean, 1 x Memory Module, 1 X
AGP Card, 1 X Floppy Drive. [NO Hard Drives or Optical Drives].

Now try to get it powered up and into BIOS.

If it works then add in the other items one at a time, before getting all
hardware together and going into an Operating System.

If it doesn't work, check all power connections internal and external, swap
over a memory module [you didn't suggest if the old memory is compatible with
the new board, or if you bought new RAM - you may have 'killed' a memory
module when installing].

Now I hope you get the picture - check, double check and then check again,
every physical connector is right, every jumper is set properly and then boot
up into BIOS with a minimum configuration, slowly build up to full config.
Got the message?
