Upgrade Windows XP home to XP pro

Les

I bought a computer loaded with XP home and want to install XP pro over
it. Every time I try I get a popup saying that it cannot load XP pro
because the XP home is newer than my XP pro. How can I get around this?
Thanks, Les

You're getting that message because XP Home has Service Pack 2
installed on it and the Pro installation CD you're using
doesn't. You can either perform a clean installation of XP Pro
or create what's called a "slipstreamed" installation CD.

Create a Slip Stream version of Windows XP

Here are some of the files you'll need to obtain in order to
follow this procedure:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT
Professionals and Developers

AutoStreamer 1.0.33

CDBurner XPPro

Here's another article that you may find helpful with this
issue:

If you opt to start with a clean install of XP Pro:

Good luck
