Repair XP Home OEM with XP Pro OEM?

Does anyone know what will happen if you boot an XP Home OEM computer using
an XP Pro OEM CD, and choose to "Repair" the existing Windows installation?

If it asks, I will supply a valid, unused XP Pro OEM license number. Will
the computer now be running XP Pro OEM, with the programs intact? Will it
activate?

I might try this in a virtual PC, but I thought I would ask in case anyone
knows.

Thanks.

It should work depending if the OEM that is presently installed is not proprietary
(HP,Toshiba and etc) and the OEM you want to use is not either. They do need the
same SP level also.

So I will end up with an XP Pro installation, right?

Thanks.

Depends. Yes and No. Is the original install an OEM that dies with the computer and
did you receive a disk when you purchased said computer and you now lost it or you
never did get a re-install disk with the purchase?

NO. You will probably get a more "problematic" XP Home system. You
can not repair a XP Home with a XP pro disk. You need to do a
"repair" installation of XP.
