Upgrade Me to XP on Sony notebook

K

Karl

I have a Sony notebook model PCG-FX270 that had Windows ME
installed at the factory. After having this computer for
some time, I purchased and installed Windows XP Pro. At
startup I get a "VAIO Action Setup" error. The message
displayed is:

"It can't start because an establishment file doesn't
exist. Do re-installation."

This is a pesky little message that hasn't caused me any
real noticeable problems but I would like to get rid of
it. Any ideas? Sony won't help because the operating
system is not OEM.

Visit the Sony support website and search for Windows XP
compatible drivers for your model PCG-FX270 and install
them.

You will need to go to http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/ and select
your Sony model number to get to the site I referenced earlier.
The "Program Uninstaller Utility" will solve your problem.

| Nicholas, I sure appreciate the help but the url you
| provided doesn't seem to be valid. I did find through the
| sony support sight a download from microsoft for SP1.
|
| I am trying to download the service pack in hopes this
| will fix the problem.
|
| What do you know or think about the program uninstaller
| utility at the URL you referenced?
|
| Thanks again for the help!
