XP Pro crashes on upgrade setup

Hello:
My Sony Vaio notebook crashes continually with 34
minutes left when I try to upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro
Upgrade service pack 1. I'm starting from scratch with a
factory restore from Sony and then the upgrade. Any
idea's? Thanks!

I have the same problem. I was trying to restore the
original WIN XP
What was your outcome. I don't want to have to format the
drive.

I'm afraid I had to stick with XP Home and forget about
the Pro upgrade. I had crashed the Home by installing
Microsofts service pack 1 and now this. I ended up having
to start from scratch..
