"update alert"

I down loaded some updates and after that, I keep getting an "update alert"
message asking if I want to download new version. If I click on yes, I get a
message telling me it can't be done. If I click no, then I keep getting that
same "update alert" message. How can I stop that from happening?
Thank you,

Two things to try:

- Remove the recent updates and let them be downloaded again. Look in
Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select "Show Windows Updates".

- Turn off automatic updates and check for them on your terms.
