I run XP sp3 with all updates.

When I boot after everything is done the computer tries to install "FAX". I
don't use windows fax and on my screen windows installer tries to install
fax until it asks for a disk.

I get rid of it by clicking cancel until it is gone. It goes through this 3
full times until it is finished showing up.

Task master doesn't have a call for fax to be loaded or installed.

What is causing this and how can I prevent it from happening everytime I
boot into windows?

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

I would first try going to Start>Run type: msconfig click Ok and
select Startup Tab. Look for an entry in the left pane that
refers to Fax or Fax Install. If there, Uncheck it. Click Apply, Ok
and restart. On restart, you will get a message saying
You have made a change in MSConfig. In the lower left corner is a
box. check it to eliminate the message.

Hi,

There is no "fax" mentioned in msconfig.

I use an HP 7310 all in one printer which has a fax component. That's
working fine and is fully installed.

Thanks for your help though.

Regards.
