Fax Won't Install

I had Windows Fax component installed in Win XP Pro. After I replaced my
modem, when I clicked for the properties in the fax icon, it told me it could
not connect to the remote server. I don't know why it would look for a
remote server.

So I uninstalled Windows Fax. When I tried to reinstall it, it went as far
as to show the "Completing configuration of fax services" message, and I
could see the fax icon in the Printers and Faxes folder just for a few
seconds. Then the install window disappears and the fax icon in the folder
also disappears, without giving me any error messages.

Now I'm stumped and don't know how to reinstall Windows Fax.

Please help!

Event Viewer also no alert messages?

That's a good comment. The problem pc is at my place of work. I'll take a
look and let you know what I find.

I don't exactly know what happened. When I tried to bring up the Event
Viewer, it would only give me an error. Then I found out that the Even Log
service was disabled. After starting this service, I was able to install
fax! I wouldn't have thought that there was a connection between Event Log
service and the fax installation.
