unwanted dial up connection

Greg Brooks

I think this is an IE6 type question. Several days ago I
noticed the dial up connection window to my ISP would
appear on my desktop spontaneously and without request.
Since I didn't have the "connect automatically" option
checked it just sits there until I close the window. This
morning after I booted up the computer it did dialup
automatically since I had changed that option yesterday
before shutting down. The modem dialed out and made
connection to the internet but no browser appeared. What
gives? The only relevant recent changes/occurences I can
think of were updating McAfee VirusScan and then the
onslaught of the SoBig worm emails, all of which were
quarantined by my ISP before they got to me (I think).
Thanks.

If the problem is a pop-up window, your computer may have been hijacked.
