unwanted audio fade in Photo Story 3

The last 5 seconds of an audio track (narration) on a Photo Story
persistently fade out. It's an mp3, plays normally (as sound) in WMP10, plays
normally and looks and sounds healthy in the well-known sound editing
programme where I created it. It is more than covered by the pictures which
in fact do end with a fade to black - but this is 10 seconds past the end
of narration and adding a picture or two makes no difference, the unwanted
fade-out still occurs. It's the only Photo story where this happens and I'm
hoping there's a simple answer, as it's driving me nuts!

I've solved this problem by simply cutting out the last 5 seconds (one
sentence) of the soundtrack. It still makes sense, just about...
But I note no-one has commented, and I think this is really one for the
nerds. By going back through my notes I've found that at some point I used my
sound editing programme to execute some modification or other to just that
last sentence - resampling? Normalizing? It's not clear and I'm not even
certain I didn't undo the mod. But as the entire track plays back normally
in all my audio programmes, then I reason that whatever action I took must
somehow have left behind a "trigger" (for a fade!) which now only Photo Story
3 responds to... I swear I haven't made this all up!

Could it be that maybe your edit has a little overlap at that point? Some
programs will automatically stick a fade transition in when you have an
overlap. And they are usually about 5 seconds duration. Just a thought...
