I rolled out another page last night covering Narration and Motion... so the
new Photo Story 3 section of my main website now includes 5 pages:

Introduction
Setup
Import Pictures
Add Titles
Narration and Motion

..... only 2 more pages to go: Background Music and Saving

Wow, I love your site. I'll have to visit often from now on. I do have one
issue with Photo Story 3, and I know it's still pretty new, but I hope you
have a suggestion. There is a perfect, downloadable example of panning a
large photo called "A Moment in Time" at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/wmx/photostory/motion.asx.

The panning and changes of direction in this example are smooth and crisp --
exactly what I've been looking for in my own work; however, although I
followed the instructions to the letter, my changes of direction result in a
brief ghostlike or double-image effect as the program switches pictures.
Again, I followed the instructions to the letter and repeated my own test
several times.

I can't find anything regarding changing properties or frame rates, or
anything, to improve this. I have a nearly new PC, a Pentium 4
w/hyperthreading, a terrific graphics card (ATI All-in-Wonder), lots of
memory (512 if I recall); but, I still just can't match the smoother quality
of Microsoft's example online. Can you suggest anything to improve this?
Don't be afraid to suggest tweaking something on my PC.

Thank you!

Good question.... something I'll have to add to the site.

It's probably fairly obvious to use two copies of the same picture to change
the panning direction, and to have the second one start at the same position
that the first one ends at....

What isn't as obvious is that there's a default 2 second transition between
the two that results in what you are saying. Go to the 2nd picture and
uncheck the transition option. That should smooth it out.

The Narration and Motion page now has the info.... thanks again for the good
question.

Wow, your PhotoStory 3 section is great. Any chance that you can put up
the PS3 project file so we can see exactly how you created the "Echo" story?

Thanks Barry,

I would... but it weighs in a bit too much - over a 12 MB file behind the
scenes for a small story. I'll put it up temporarily if you don't mind that
big a download.

No problem for me, if it's not a problem for you.

Thanks Barry....

You're right in it being relatively simple. I deleted the project file from
the website.... too much space for too little.

I tried using WinZip on it and it only got larger by 2K (I guess that's
because music and photos don't generally compress very well).
