unmatched/unchanged problems

Hello. I recently got frontpage 2003 and everything was going fine with a
website that I was running that was very small. I took over my school's
website and they have many more files in it. I uploaded everything to my
website and it all shows up okay. But when I go to publish something else,
over half of my files show up as "unmatched", even though I can see them in
the remote site as well as ony my computer. I have tried to synchronize
them, or publish all of them again, and it will say "unchanged" for awhile,
but will say "unmatched" the next time I try to publish something. My server
has frontpage extensions installed on it, and the publish option "determine
changes by comparing source and destination sites" option is checked. My
website works fine but this is annoying. Does anyone know what I can do to
fix this? Thanks for any help.

Have you at least once used Publish All from online site to local PC site?

Yes I've tried the publish all many times and nothing different happens. It
will say files unchanged and then it will say that the files are "unmatched"
the next time I go to publish. I can't figure it out. My website works fine
but this is very annoying to see. Any help to fix this would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried opening the live/remote site and doing a publish back to your local machine
overwriting/updating your local content?

Yes I have tried open the remote site and publishing back to my computer. I
have also tried synchronizing the files, and I have also erased the webfolder
on my computer and then published all of the files on the remote website back
to my computer. None of this seems to work because the next time I try to
publish something I still get some files saying "unmatched". Is there any way
to fix this?

I have the same problem you have and I am also looking for a solution.
If seems like Frontpage always works fine for a time and then little
problems like this tend to creep in. Maybe the only solution is
getting the ISP to delete the entire website and then you can publish
it again?

Are you on a Yahoo or geocities server?

If so, they add server side code for tracking. Ignore it.

No

It does not seem to cause any problems, the files are not uploaded
when you publish, you can't seem to get rid of that unmatched notice,
so ignoring seems to be the best solution.

The same problem has been bugging me and I think I have tracked down
the problem, at least nothing on my website shows up as unmatched. My
website has few folders, actually sub-webs, called lets say ZXC.
Everything was fine until I created a page called ZXC.htm. That was
was when I kept getting those unmatched files. I renamed that webpage
BNM.htm and after publishing, nothing was unmatched.

It does look like a minor bug either in FrontPage or maybe even the
Windows XP operating system. Maybe someone will pick this up and pass
it on to the MS Bug department.
