unmatched files on remote web site

I have unmatched files on my remote web site. My website works fine, nothing
is missing, but everytime I publish, it tells me that "Some items have
changed on both the local and remote Web sites and are in conflict ." I
click on "Overwriting will cause these files to be replaced on the
destination site". Nothing changes, and when I go to publish again, I get
the same message, and same problem.

How do I resolve the conflict?

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with
Expression Web Designer and SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

Then open your local web and recalculate hyperlinks.

See if it helps.

Steve, thanks for your response, but the files that are unmatched are not
temporary, or hidden files. They seem do be the working files that are on my
site, which is why I am hesitant about just deleting them from the web site
side of the Web Folders window. When I publish, and I get the warning, if I
click on 'ignore', it updates, and works just fine. If I click on
'overwrite', it takes about 30 minutes to update after making single change.

I think I have just answered my own question. If I ignore the warning, and
publish any changes I made, and the site still works, then the unmatched
files on the web site can be deleted without any problems. Correct?

Thanks again for your help
