I need to uninstall norton, which came with my vista basic. can someone
explain the process to me. I am absolutley not a true computer person.

Just about any program can be uninstalled from Control Panel.
Go there, select Classic View, open "Programs and Features"
and look down the list of programs for anything 'Norton' or
'Symantec'. There may well be more than one entry. Click on
them one at a time, and there will be an uninstall option.

Norton programs, when uninstalled, tend to leave a lot of debris behind.
When you are finished uninstalling, download and run their cleanup
tool:

HTH.

You ever tried to uninstall Norton, because it's obvious you have not
faced that bullet.
