Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device/Conexant D850 56K V9X DFV C Mod

Hello:

I am running the Windows XP Professional Operating System and I have noticed
in my Audio Properties this program in installed in the hardware properties:

Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device with Modem Line Playback and Modem Line
Record

and in the Add and Remove Programs this program is installed:

Conexant D850 56K V9X DFV C Modem

and I have uninstalled this program in the device manager: Unimodem Half
Duplex Audio Device and this program continues to reinstall on every computer
startup.

What is the function of these programs?

I do not have a Fax installed on my dell computer system.

And I am using a Linksys Cable Modem and Linksys Router.

The Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device refers to your modems speaker/audio.
The only advice I would give to you is to remove that entry, and change it
to your sound card. Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices, and on the
Audio tab under default devices choose your sound card, rather than the
modem.

Thank You for Responding,

In the sound and audio properties in the audio properties in the default
setting, there is the entry for sigma tel audio, there is no mention of a
modem.

On my computer starup this program still appeared in the add and remove
program: Conexant D850 56 KV 9X DFV modem.
