No Audio Device No Mixer

I seem to have a lot of similar queries, but mine hasn't adjusted itself. I
have a Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device but for System sounds and Quick Time
I get the message No Audio Device and No Mixer Device although I can playback
on Windows Media Player and Real Player. I have been told by Dell Hardware
that it is a software problem and wonder if I need a new driver - from the
supplier Microsoft! However I cannot find any way of getting a new or
updated driver. I must be a beginner - or am i?

The Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio device is only for the modem, which may have
"speaker phone" functions. You can not play regular audio over it. You need
to locate, activate and configure a standard sound card. This can be either
on-board (off the motherboard) C-Media audio or by adding a sound card.

The SoundMAX is your audio. Update the drivers from Dell's tech support
website for your specific model computer. The supplier of the drivers
is Dell, not Microsoft.

I don't know why Quicktime isn't working. After you update the drivers,
see if that part of the problem is solved.
