Unidentified CPU?

After trying to update device drivers, I found that one of my 2 Intel Core 2
Duo processors was missing, or hadn't been identified. This was also after HP
update failed to install a couple of updates. I can't relate the missing CPU
to anything apart from this, so does anyone know how it was caused or how I
can get device manager to get it back/identify it?

Was one of those HP updates a BIOS update? The best way to do HP
updates is to download the updates from HP and run them from your
hard drive. I've done a lot of updates from HP this way on my HP laptop
with no problems, including BIOS updates.
