ISATAP ADAPTOR/ unidentified device

I don't know if this is the right group but a keyword search sent me here.
For a long time now I've been getting windows on startup trying to install
something that it says is an unidentified device, but on attempt to diagnose
and or install I get the following:

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Drive

and gives it's value as *ISATAP network adaptor.

So I uninstall it and after a restart or two I have to go through it all
over again.

If I leave device manager window open it shows a lot of activity trying to
install this device so it is affecting performance.

I don't have any new hardware other than a driver for a midi connection, but
htis issue predates that. Where to start?

I installed the unidentified device and all the information I get is that it
is by microsoft. when I search driver it sends me to google with a list of
unidentified device links....

Neat program.

Ok- Device manager says the driver is a network adaptor, class coinstallers
nci.dll; nci device install, hardware ID *ISATAP. code 18 reinstall.

When I ran Autorun it found no files for- ASPI32 system32 driver;lplnlp
tunnel driver (sys32); nwlnkfh and nwlnkfwd (IPX traffic).

Is this helpful?

I ran autorun (neat) and cleared some startups that listed no files,
including some that were't to my mind drivers. I rebooted several times
including a reboot after running IE and so far the problem seems solved.

Whoever you guys are out there- thanks. I'll repost a new thread if the
problem recurs.
