We have recently installed another computer in the house. I can detect
it in 'Network'.

If I click on the this new computer icon and login, what features and
facilities will be available to me when working on the original
computer.

Thanks

All of the features and facilities on the networked computer are potentially
available to you.

Shared folder, shared printers, shared network access. They must be set
to shared on the new computer.

It's not all that simple, so find a book or an on-line tutorial, and do
some reading (while seated at the computers, so you can try things).

Thanks for responding.

Since my pc is also on the network, can I protect it with a password
to ensure that others on the other pc cannot gain access to my pc.

Thanks

Don't share any folders (if it's on, turn if off - see below), and
don't tell others the account password you use. And do use a
password...

The Public folder is always shared, I believe, so you can put anything
you want to share in a folder inside Public.

To control sharing, right click on a folder, choose Share With, then
Advanced sharing (if present), and browse among the dialogs you will
see.

I'm not an expert. I would recommend a Windows Vista (or whatever) for
Dummies, or another book at a level you're comfortable with, for better
guidance than I can offer. There's really too much to cover in an
exchange of posts like this.

Any idea how I can password protect my pc. So that others on the
netowrk cannot login to my machine?

Thanks
