Uncompacting/Accessing Outlook Express Email

Before restoring my hard drive I compacted all my email
folders thinking I was saving them. Now I have the files
but cannot access them via Outlook Express. Any ideas
I've tried everything. Should I have exported them? Too
late?

Compacted them in a zip-file? Uncompress them again and make sure the "Read
Only" propery isn't checked. Then configure it with OE again.

Note that this is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.
