Recovering Outlook Express e-mails

I own an HP Pavillion with installed Windows ME. It
wouldn't boot one day. I had to use the HP recover disk
to reinstall Windows ME. In the process I had to
reestablish my Outlook express e-mail accounts. The only
messages in the accounts were those from when I
reinstalled the OS. I would like to recover all the other
messages in the folders prior to that. I have located
what I think are the archived folders (xxx.dbx), but I
cannot import them or uncompact them (they are located in
Windows/application data/identities). Outlook Express
does not tell you how to uncompact them - just how to
compact them. How do I recover these folders and files?

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

and it had the procedure to import and recover the files.
