Unable to send mail

Hi,

Like a couple of the members below, I am having problems sending emails from
Windows Mail. I am able to receive perfectly well, and send emails to
colleagues but unable to send to other email providers. The following error
message is displayed:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test', Account:
'Work', Server: 'mymail.myregisteredsite.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts
(#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Unless your internet provider is running that server, such connections to
port 25 are likely to be blocked to cause problems for spammers. Ask
whoever is running that server if you can send your outgoing mail to it
through some other port instead, and if so, where to find the instructions
for switching to this port. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way to
find out, since there are about 65,000 ports available and it's unlikely
that more than a few of them will accept outgoing mail.

You could also keep the same email address and the same incoming
mail server, but switch to using your internet provider's outgoing
mail server. If you want to do that, tell us who your internet provider
is.

Thank you for including the complete error message. It makes
troubleshooting so much easier!

One possible reason for this error message is failure to authenticate.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers,
make sure "My server requires authentication" is checked.
