working and then for some reason it doesnt. I can still received email but
unable to send. I have all correct settings, I have deleted accunt and re
installed account, changed port settings as requested and still get the same
error. which is the following
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'imap.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '553 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Sender address rejected: not
logged in', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number:

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

@miller: In order for us to give you custom help, we need to see the exact
error message you are getting. Right-click on your error message, copy,
then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without
the complete error message.

Hi Gary

Something so simple and it has worked. That has taken me two days to sort
out, if only I had found you straight away. Thanks you so much for solving
the problem I reaaly appreciate it.

Thanks again

Brian

Change port 25 to port 587. You can do so after going to
Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced.
While there you must also enable the SSL option for both the
outgoing server and the incoming server.
