cannot send email but can receive. have ckd all settings - see error msg
below.
any help will be appreciated.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'testing',
Account: 'imap.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '553 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Sender address rejected: not owned
by user tautog60@aol', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

AOL is more fussy than most mail providers. AOL will not let you
send with a From address unless you own it. AOL is of the opinion
that you don't own the email address (e-mail address removed).

Also make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

Thank you so much for getting back to me, Gary. After spending the weekend
off & on reading every help posting I could find & having sent this one
myself - woke up this am & it's working (!?). My settings were initially all
correct & I even re-entered them all over again & restarted pc before
posting. Who knows....thx for taking the time to get back to me. : )
