Unable to run Norton Antivirus

I have recently installed windows xp professional and I am unable to run
norton antivirus. It always says it has encountered a problem and must shut
down. I have not been able to remove norton and re-install - any
suggestions.

What version of Norton are you trying to run and have you installed SP2 at
this point?
