How to remove Norton Antivirus program

Hi, I have IBM computer. The Norton Antivirus was installed by default.
I want to install the other securty program.
when I try to install it, the message that I have to remove Norton before
processing appears.
I tried to remove the Norton Antivirus through 'Add/remove program' on
control panel, but the system shut down with blue screen.

Could anyone help me?
