Norton Antivirus 2004 problem

I enabled Windows XP Firewall. After that, the Live
Update for my Norton Antivirus stopped working. I
disabled the Firewall but Norton still will not update.

Any ideas how to solve this? I have tried everything
Norton Support suggests and still am getting an "unable
to connect to host" message while running Live Update.

Uninstall, then reinstall your Norton program.
Make sure XP's firewall is enabled before reinstalling
Norton.

Actually, I don't want to use XP's Firewall. I don't know
how to set it up to allow Norton to work. I'm going to
use Norton's firewall, but I want to get Norton working
again and think that something is turned "off" that won't
allow contact to the Norton web site.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Norton with
the Firewall turned off and got the same error.
