Unable to repair after SP4 installed

I have tried to recover a couple of windows 2000 pCs after
an upgrade of tyhe motherboard. Both machines had SP4
installed. During the repair process, setup is unable to
locate the win2k installation. the partition is appears
corrupted. I have had to recover the data on another
machine and set the PC up from scratch. The NTFS under
SP4 seems a different file structure then SP3 or less and
therefor the setup CD is unable to see the data on the
existing partition. Has anyone else experienced this and
is there a way around it????

This has nothing to do with SP4 as it doesn't change NTFS. I suspect the
disk are Dynamic and you can't install to Dynamic disk.
