Unable to open or save any attachment

Over the past months Windows Mail has not been able to open or save any
attachment.
I am running Vista Home premium SP1, IE 7.0.6001.1800

Can anyone please help.

Check for antivirus interference. See point 3 here:
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Try disabling the antivirus software
completely and then see if you can save the attachment. Also see point 1 on
that page.

Although I don't know if this might help curing your current problem:
It's high time for updating the system with SP2 and for making the move
to IE8!!
