Unable to open attachment after migration

I had installed Windows Mail that comes with MSN 8.5 beta, I imported my
outlook emails into it, it looks successfully and no problems occurred.
When I tried to open some imported emails with attachments, I can read
the email contents, but the attachments are not showing properly. They
are either lost the file extension or have the file name shortened (to
2-3 bytes).

I can't even recognize what types of file the attachment was, any
solutions to this?

Windows XP sp2
Outlook XP
Windows Live Mail 12.0.1270

Windows Mail is *only* distributed with Vista, and does not run
on XP. It sounds like you have Windows Live Mail instead.
I'm not familiar with your issue, but you might try upgrading
to the latest version, 12.0.1365. Get it here:

Questions concerning Windows Live Mail should be posted in
its dedicated newsgroup:
