Can't open attachments in Windows Mail after message is sent

Dave

I made my CV on Office 2007 and attached it to the email on Windows Mail.
Before I sent the email I clicked on the attachment to make sure that the CV
document was there. It was there, I could open the attachment, and so I sent
the email to the prospective employer. After sending the email, I went to the
Sent folder on Windows Mail and again tried to open the attachment. This time
the attachment would not open and I got a message from Windows Office Word
saying "This file could not be found. C:/Windows/.../CV Jobs(2).docX".

I sent another email to this person. Same thing. I could open the e-mail
attachment BRFORE sending the email but could not do so frm the Sent folder
AFTER sending the email.

Can anyone help me? I have got Windows Vista Home Premium with Office
Enterprise 2007.

One assumes the recipient can open the attachment, yes?

Can you open other attachments?

Have you recently installed IE8?

Exactly the same problemand error message, cannot open any more offices files
attachment from emails ( other types of attachements like pictures can still
be open)
I have to detach, save on disk and open !!
Heavy !!

It cames just after the updates to IE8 and to Office 2007 SP2 !!
I found no solution yet.

Hi,
I updated now Vista to SP2 and the problem disseappared !!
I can again open office attachments from windows mail.

... so it was probably simply a compatibility problem between different
updates.
IE8, Office 2007 SP2 should be with Vista SP2 so that this attachment
opening works as before.

Hi,
I've same problem being unable to open attachments but already have the SP2
update. This problem only started for me After I upgraded to IE8 which also
causes the browser to crash whenever it tries to open a pdf file from the
web. Maybe running SP2 restore any corrupted links. I wonder if I can
re-install SP2 to see if that resolve my problem on Mail.

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems.
State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2)
in your first post.

Your error message is typical for the IE8 attachments issue.
One workaround is to uninstall IE8, which reverts you back to IE7.
If you decide to uninstall IE8, follow these instructions:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

Instead of uninstalling IE8, another option is to upgrade
your email program to Windows Live Mail:
http://download.live.com/wlmail

Incidentally, unless specifically requested, you should not send documents
in .docx format; use the more compatible .doc format, since many recipients
have not upgraded to Word 2007.

Your problem may return. The attachments issue caused by IE8 is
known to be intermittent.

Sorry, thought obvious as stated from my post I am using IE8 and that Windows
Mail came only with Windows Vista!

The confusion is that you've hijacked someone else's thread. Please begin a
new one.

Hi,
You were right ! Intermittent.
After 24 hours of perfect work the problem just came again.
I will do as you recommanded, go back to IE7 or install windows live mail.
Regards
