Maybe format the MBR

fdisk \mbr

That might do the trick

if not, reinstall windows (Watching every option you choose)
and restart your computer without the cd

And if that dosent work,
make sure your BIOS is set to boot from HD

Help us help you:
1. Define "all that good stuff" -- remember -- we are not sitting behind
you, and few of us are certified psychics.
2. Where are you in the installation process when "it" restarts?
3. What, WORD FOR WORD, is the error message?

If you set the partitions yourself (not thru the CD) did you activate
the partition?

Enter the recovery console and run FIXMBR and then FIXBOOT
and/or
Set your bios to boot from the HD - take the CD out.

still no luck, ive Booted up windows XP install disc loaded the blue screen
and enterd the set up created a partiton (NTFS) and formated, got to the auto
restart but when the pc rebooted it wouldnt allow me 2 load the GUI it just
says "error loading operating system" i tryed the FIXBOOT and FIXMBR and the
Fdisk /mbr, also tryed taking the disk out b4 it rebooted, and my Harddrive
is in the boot list in my bios... Im installing windows XP pro if that helps
anything.
I "think" that that the problem may have somthing to do with the fact that I
installed Vista, but i deleted the entie thing the hard drive was wiped clean
and this is a new hard drive i just got it but i kno it works cuz vista was
running fine on it.
thx for the help =D

It was nice of you to finally tell us the one CRITICAL clue to the proper
identification of your problem:
" installed Vista, but i deleted the entire thing".
VISTA uses a boot-loader schema that is entirely different from, and
incompatible with, the boot-loader schem of Windows XP. Neither FIXBOOT nor
FIXMBR will overwrite a VISTA boot-loader. Your "boot" problem is: the VISTA
boot-loader is looking for a VISTA installation, which no longer exists.
Visit a VISTA newsgroup and ask them how to delete the VISTA boot-loader so
that you can then install Windows XP.
