Unable to get two-way audio connection

Hi, I'm having a problem getting two-way audio connections to work. I tried to connect with a friend via MSN Messenger as well as Remote Assistance. In both cases, I was able to hear him but he was unable to hear me. The microphone is working as I am able to record with it using Sound Recorder. Also the MSN audio tuning wizard indicates the mic is working and I can see the green levels change in MSN Messenger when I speak. It makes no difference whether the XP firewall is on or off. I also tried connecting to my Windows 98 computer with all firewalls off, same problem. Any ideas? (Note: Webcam video connection works just fine.

I have had this exact same problem and it was very frustrating. It has however now been resolved
Click "start
click "control panel
double click "network connections
right click on Local area connection, then go to "properties
uncheck "QoS Packet Scheduler
Restart compute
Then try messenge

This worked on mine. Good luck!
