Unable to exit msconfig.exe Diagnostic mode!

I thought I should clarify the issue in the subject:)

Backed myself into a corner. I have used the selective startup option many
times with great success.

Used diagnostic startup for first time not realizing it would delete all
previous restore points - duh.

Now can't get back to normal startup. When I try to revert to normal startup
I keep getting message that access not allowed - log on as administrator -
sadly I am.

Also, I see that diagnostic startup offers interactive starting of programs
- how?

Immediate problem, the desktop computer that I pulled this stunt on has no
Internet and is basically stuck in one mode - I am typing on my laptop
setting next to it.

Thanks:)

You may run as one of the "administrators" accounts in xp,but youre not
running xp as the "administrator" ,the s makes alot of diffrence in windows
OS.
To run as the administrator, simply tap the F8 key on starting pc or
restart,safe-
mode, enter as the administrator, change the settings in Msconfig. As for
"selective
startup",open the startup services tab in Msconfig, uncheck the box(s)..

Hi:)

I think this approach is on the right track. However when I log in after
booting in Safe Mode, I still receive the error when I attempt to change
literallyy any thing and click on okay.

"An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service.
You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified
changes"

Still lost:)

Hi:)

Partial success - msconfig.exe is still running but the computer is mostly
normal except for ivory task bar, no network, Internet, or device manager.

I still get the access denied error when I change anything in msconfig;
however the changes do seem to take effect. Just don't have some essential
things anymore.

I don't see anything in msconfig that it recognizes as disabled.

What do you think - try to repair window?

LOL

Completely and utterly wrong, as usual, Andrew. Why do you persist in
these lies?
