I've got Windows XP Pro with a single user account that is an
administrator's account. This is the only user account that has ever been
setup and the only change that has been made to it was to password protect
the account. The computer has been running problem free from about 18
months.
I've done countless Windows Updates during that period of time. Suddenly
when I try to do an update (such as getting SP2) I get this message:
"To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an
administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is
connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from
completing this procedure. "
I am an administrator. I am on a home network behind a router with no
restrictions (I can do the updates from other computers).
