Unable to clear print queue

My print queue shows 3 jobs and their status is printed.
Printed jobs are suppose to clear automatically, but they
don't. How can I keep printed jobs from staying in print
queue? I use Tektronix 850DP printer on local network.

Unfortunately, this seems to be an issue with XP and
several different printers. The stock reply from MS is
to disable the bidirectional capability of the LPT port.
This does work with fixing the printer queue problem, but
also makes it impossible for the printer to talk to the
computer--hence you won't get ink level messages, etc. if
your printer supports that. I have yet to see a patch
for XP that really fixes the issue. Hope you can cope.
