unable to capture video

i have a panasonic digital camcoder pv-gs31 which i'm unable to capture video
from tape using window movie maker. i'm using usb 2 connection where i have
downloader the usb dv driver from panasonic. explore recognizes the camcorder
attached to the computer but window movie maker does not find the device.
what do i need to do for window movie maker to find this device for capture
????

USB is only for capturing still images from the cameras memory card and
via the supplied software.
To capture DV footage from your cam, you connect via a firewire interconnect
which is not supplied with your cam, you require a 4-pin to 6-pin IEEE1394/
iLink/firewire interconnect.
This is all detailed in your Panasonic manual.
 
Decoder, it may well tell him to use USB2 in his manual. Manufactures insist
on keeping us busy here by insisting that USB2 capture is the way to go.
Whereas a few people claim to be able to do it, I am with you all the way,
use firewire if you want problem free capturing.
