Unable to boot PC after installation of SP2

I have been unable to boot the PC (load XP Home) after installation of SP2
(CD version).
The PC tries to load XP, there is a momentary transfer to a blue screen with
writing on it (I cannot read the blue screen as it only displays for a
fraction of a second). The PC then tries to reboot automatically - the same
thing happens. Eventually it will allow me to reboot in safe mode.
I have been forced to uninstall SP2.
I have Norton Anivirus and Norton Internet Security plus Microsoft
Anti-spyware. Could these cause a conflict.
Other than that, any suggestions please?

Hi

Did you have any problems with the previous version of Windows? MS anti
spyware shouldn't conflict and I haven't had any problems with it. I don't
use NIS.

Previous version of XP was working just fine.

I have removed SP2 and the PC is working fine again. Have been on NIS
website and there should not be a conflict between NIS and SP2. So, suspect
NIS may be a red herring.

Any ideas?

1. How to use the Automatic Recovery feature to recover your computer if
the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup program is not completed successfully:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=875355

2. Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu.
If that fails, reboot tapping F8 again this time choosing Safe Mode.
Then System Restore to Date/Time before issue started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

3. Otherwise perform a Repair Installation:

4. When you are ready for SP-2, follow the Service Pack Installation
Checklist:
