unable to apply/update security patch

I received error msg: Setup could not verify the
integrity of the file update.inf. Make sure the
crytographic service is running on this computer. What
should I do?

First make sure the service is running. Start>Run>type in the box
"services.msc" click ok. scroll down to cyptographic & check to see if it
is started. If not, start the service. If so, further troubleshooting will
be necessary.
