lost in the worm hole

I have downloaded the patch for windows xp and when
trying to install it I keep getting an error message; it
says: setup could not verify the integrity of the
Update.inf. make sure the Crytographic serviceis running
on this computer

please help dont know where to turn to

GO to control panel
Select "performance and maintenence"
Select "Administrative Tools"
Double click "services"
Highlight "Cryptographic Services" on the list
Right mouse click and select properties
Under the general tab startup type should be "automatic"
Under the logon tab logon as local system account
Right click again and choose restart
