unable to add fax printer

I've got a US Robotics 56K modem and a Epson Perfection
1650 scanner. There is no fax printer listed in my
printer list and when I try to add one via "add fax
printer" in the advanced options, I get the message
something like "A fax printer was not able to be created.
Check to see that your modem was installed correctly".
Yet when I go to modem diagnostics, everything's hunky
dory. Whassup wid dat? (I do have DSL installed, but
also an external phone/answering machine).

I updated my driver and that worked. I posted a reply to
an Oct. 26th message explaining how to do it, in case
you're like me and don't know how to update hardware
drivers.
