Cannot add Fax Printer

[Sabit]

modem installed and working (for data calls)
fax service is running
fax service management console shows fax device properly

BUT when I try to add a fax printer to be able to use it,
the HD whirrs for a while and then the response comes back:
"The Fax Printer could not be created. Please verify your
modem is installed correctly"

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the fax modem, tried
another fax modem, but the same response.

What else can I do?

I had this problem, too. Try updating the driver. Just
in case you don't know how (I didn't), here's how I did it:
make sure you're connected to the internet; go into
control panel, double-click on system, click the hardware
tab, click on device manager, find your modem in the list
of hardware and double-click on it; then you click on
update driver and choose to look for in on the internet.
