Hi Keith,

Hello,

I have two installations of XP on the same partition

Good luck

Hi Keith,

What is it you'd like to have? Do you want to try and recover the original
installation? Or do you want to just use the new one and remove the old one?

To recover the original, boot the WinXP CD and start the installer (do not
hit "r" and enter the recovery console). It should detect both installations
and offer to repair them. Choose the original and proceed.

Ot just use the new one, simply delete the system files from the old one
using Windows Explorer. Programs will need to be reinstalled, and you may
need to take ownership of and import data from the old installation before
deleting it.

I don't think I can go on the original OS...could either of you be more specific on what files to delete in Explorer? There is WINDOWS for this incarnation and Program Files for the other one.

OK, I think I'm going to try to get the old one back. However, the CD installer doesn't suggest a repair....
