We have 2000 Prof & XP computers on our network and only the XPs lose
connection sometime during the night with the server. When the XPs are
turned off they connect ok at startup, but when left on, always lose
connection. What should I be looking for?? The only things that run at
night are tape backup on the server, plus all the Norton anti-virus on the
XPs. TIA for any help!

Also check in the properties for the NIC and on the power tab make sure
allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is not checked.

| See the article below, specifically the Windows XP firewall.

Thanks to both of you! The MS firewall was not activated, but the Advanced
tab had a check next to the network connection. I unchecked, but still am
not sure that meant anything since the firewall was turned off. I did,
however, disconnect and reconnect the mapped drive to the server. They
stayed on overnight so something worked! Appreciate your help.
