two version of 2000`

I got as far as you said by revealing hidden files but do
not know where to view the settings you described. What
do I change and where do I remove the other version
installed?
 
You'll need to edit boot.ini found in the root of the system partition
(probably C:\). If you're not sure about any of this, then best to get
someone to help you.
