trying to upgrade Win 2000 pro to Win XP pro

I'm trying to upgrade Win 2000 pro to Win XP pro from an
upgrade disk.

The process of installation went fine for the 50 or so
minutes. It restarted on it's own. Since then the machine
as kind of fell asleep. Even the signal to the screen
goes off. I tried restarting the computer a few times,
unplugged the network (home office), let some time go by..
(Hoping for a miracle..)

The question is what's happening? What do I do?

The machine is a dedicated digital video suite.
Matrox 2500 video card
AMD 1.4 g (via chipset upgraded recently)
1 g of ram
Two hard drives: 1- video 80 g; 1 system (and other
programs) 40 g

Try pressing F8 when on boot-up (on "starting windows xp..." ), then, from
the menu chose "Enable VGA mode". If this works, when the os boots up, try
changing the display settings to lower resolution and refresh rate.
It is possible that the computer boots-up with a display device settings
that your monitor does not support.

Regards,
