Trouble with Windows Mail

I have been having trouble sending and receiving emails at home since Friday.
Up until then it has been working fine. I am using Windows Mail. My email
service is through Comcast. One thing I am wondering… on Friday, 8/17, I had
received a Windows Vista Security Update KB931213. I am wondering if this
could be causing the problem because that’s when it started happening.

Here’s what happens…

When I try to send, it stays in my Outbox, even when I go to Tools, Send
All. This is for simple text emails that I create, as well as replies to
emails. Every 60 seconds it asks me if I want to Stop or Wait. I click on
Wait, then after doing this about a dozen times, I finally tell it to stop.
So, it stays in my Outbox.

When it says I'm receiving mail (bottom right hand corner), I wait for a
while. Then I go to Tools, Receive All. It still doesn't come. I go to
Comcast.net, Mail, on the website, and it is sitting there, but it won't come
to my computer through Windows Mail.

After I shut down, then boot up again, I can send and receive several emails
just fine, but after 5 or 6 emails back and forth, I start having the same
problem all over again.

I have called Comcast and my account, etc. is set up correctly. I do not
have Norton or McAfee and never have. I have turned off my antivirus
software (Panda) to see if that might have been blocking something. Even
with that off, I still cannot send or receive emails after a while. My
firewall is turned off anyway because Comcast has their own. Everything had
been working fine up until Friday.

Any ideas? Thanks...

Since both your sending and receiving are affected, the Outbox
clearing tool won't help.
I recommend you upgrade to Windows Live Mail.
If nothing else, it will pinpoint the source of the trouble to
either the email client or your Internet connection.
