trouble with printing on home network

P

PeterInMN

Hi all.
I need some help with gettng my home network printing.

I have a desktop that has the printer hooked up to it. It works fiine.
My wife has a laptop that she uses in the kitchen. It is hooked into
the home network by a wireless connection, and we can surf the internet
fine, as well as send email fine.

I am unable to print from my wife's laptop to my desktop. I do see my
printer on her laptop, but when I try to print some paper, all I get out
of the printer is a white sheet of paper; nothing prints. I have tried
to fix this, but I need help.

Thanks ahead of time!! :)

Does your wife's laptop have the correct drivers installed for the
make and model of printer?

If you have not done so already you need to use Control Panel -
Printers and Faxes - add new printer and install it as a network
printer.

If that does not work, use the CD that came with your printer to
install it on your wife's computer, pretending that it is connected
directly to it. Then when it is installed you can change the port the
printer uses to the network port (your computer). Do this by opening
Control Panel - Printers and faxes, right-click on the icon for the
printer and select Properties. Go to the Ports tab and check the list
of available ports to see if the network connection to your printer is
listed. If not use the Add Port button to set it up.

Good luck

Installed the proper driver?
