Trouble Deleting Spyware

B

Bob

Every time I run a scan, I find something called "Possible
Hosts File Hijack". I follow the directions to delete the
threat and it confirms that I have succesfully deleted the
spyware. However when I run the scan again, it finds the
same exact threat. I have even scaned in safe mode. I
have noticed over the last two days that 2 green allow
signs have popped up. Now my homepage has been hijacked
and every few days the same 11 weired sites keep
reappearing in my favorites. This is only effecting
Internet Explorer. My other browser, Opera does not have
this problem. Is there something else I should do with
MSAS
or should I reinstall Internet Explorer.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Boot into Safe Mode (F8) at startup;
Empty your temporary files AND your Temporary Internet Files C:\Documents
and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder ;
Run the scan while in safe mode;
If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recognize.
