trial license expires and machine is locked up

Help!
My daughter loaded a my copy of XP home on her computer
and after the 30 day trial period the software locked up
the machine sothat it can not be used at all without an
activation number. She was running windows 98. I purchased
XP home for my machine. How dow I fix her machine back to
windows 98?

Boot to Safe Mode and log in to the built in Administrator account. You may
be able to unistall XP from Add/Remove Programs, if you elected to backup
the previous OS first, and you did not convert the hard disk to NTFS. Other
than that, format and reinstall.
